Pedagog’s heritage is built on many years of providing wireless CCTV systems to the demanding public sector - with early adoption of its technology coming from local authorities and law enforcement departments – a sector which requires technology developed to high standards in terms of image quality, system functionality and reliability.
At the same time that Pedagog was continually improving its digital camera imaging and transmission technology, the consumer communications market saw the rapid take-up of mobile phones and significant improvements were made in both the speed and data capacity of mobile networks. Ultimately, it is this natural convergence of Pedagog’s technology and the mobile market which has led to Pedagog’s current focus - namely the transmission of high quality video images from remote cameras to ordinary colour mobile phones.
Given its expertise wireless multimedia, Pedagog is well positioned to take advantage of a rapidly emerging mass market opportunity. The consumer version of its camera and associated subscriber service was first launched in 2006, branded IRIS.
