MAJOR UK TELEMEDICINE PROJECT UNDERWAY

 

Possibly the UK's most complete and ambitious wireless telemedicine project is now underway with Pedagog at the forefront a partnership with Oracle Health and BT Health.

 

Broad in its remit, it covers both internal hospital communication as well as external remote diagnosis within one integrated infrastructure.

 

Using wireless enabled colour PDA's, both Wi-Fi (wireless LAN) 802.11 for internal use and hot-swapping GPRS/GSM mobile telephony for external access. The ultimate goal to be secured by August 2003 is the development of a fully commercial system for use by Junior Doctors and with modification by other clinical groups. The project has three development stages - Mock up, Proof of Concept Demonstrator and Pilot.

FLY JACKET INTEGRATED WITH COMPAQ IPAQ FOR NEW LAPEL CAMERA

 

Development of the fly-jacket integrated with the Compaq Ipaq is now nearing completion. This will open a whole new range of solutions in different channels.

 

This will allow remote camera input into the Compaq Ipaq allowing such applications as lapel cameras, remote covert cameras, domestic and retail etc.

VODAFONE TO TEST OCTV WITH GPRS

 

Vodafone in conjunction with Ericsson are to fully test OCTV over their GPRS network. Thorough and complete testing will take place over a three day period during the third week in January.

ANGLESEY MURDER SCENE COVERED BY OCTV

 

OCTV has been installed in the street in Anglesey where the brutal murder of a 90 year old pensioner took place in November. The camera was installed on Christmas Eve and has been welcome by the island's community as the reassurance that they need following such an appalling and particularly gruesome murder.

 

The OCTV system was purchased by the council following a successful funding bid to the Home Office Reassurance Project.

IMMINENT PRODUCT RELEASES

 

In addition to the Compaq Ipaq fly-jacket integration, two further notable product lines are due for release during the first quarter of 2002.

 

The first of these will by the 3.5" form factor version of OCTV. This will be a miniaturised version of OCTV with two camera inputs. The potential applications are enormous and already major projects in South Africa and Australia are eagerly awaiting its launch.

 

The second will be a mini speed dome that will be compatible and ready to use with OCTV over 2.5G and 4G networks. This product will further add to the flexibility of OCTV into the commercial and trade CCTV markets and therefore add to the already rapidly increasing sales of Pedagog technology.
